Bulgarian police detain 10 over Lokomotiv riot

SOFIA - Bulgarian police have detained 10 people in connection with the crowd violence during the league match between Lokomotiv Mezdra and CSKA Sofia last weekend, the interior ministry said on Friday.

The 10, identified from video footage, will be charged later on Friday.

The match in the northwestern town of Mezdra was abandoned midway through the second half following a pitch invasion. Over 100 CSKA fans stormed on to the pitch and clashed with local fans.

The Sofia-based club were punished with a 4-0 loss and also given a three-match home ban and a fine of 15,000 levs ($10,246) by the Bulgarian Football Union for the riot.
