Figueroa facing lengthy spell on sidelines

Wigan Athletic's Honduras international defender Maynor Figueroa faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering knee ligament damage in the 3-1 Premier League victory at Burnley on Saturday.

The 26-year-old, likely to be a key player for his country at the World Cup finals next year, was injured early in the match at Turf Moor, but played for almost half-an-hour before limping off.

Manager Roberto Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post newspaper: "He has a medial ligament problem in his left knee. We will assess it further to see how bad he is, but it doesn't look too good."
