Aussies Abroad weekend wrap

Defender Trent Sainsbury continued his return to form by scoring on the weekend, Ryan Williams was in action for Championship side Fulham and Matildas star Samantha Kerr put in another scintillating shift with a goal and assist.

In a club friendly Trent Sainsbury played until half-time and scored in PEC Zwolle’s 18-0 shellacking of Selectie Kampen.

The 22-year-old centre-back tweeted after the match: "Good to get 45mins in the bank and my first goal for @PECZwolle. Still along way to go but slowly getting back to where I need to be!"

Sainsbury missed selected for Brazil after a freak accident on debut for the Dutch club left him with a fractured kneecap.

In another club friendly Ryan Williams played until half-time when the Cottagers won 3-0 against East Fife.

In the English WSL Cup Caitlin Friend came on after 62 minutes while Danielle Brogan played 66 minutes in her debut when Notts County LFC won 2-0 at Birmingham LFC.

In the Toppserien in Norway Eliza Campbell played a full match in Medkila IL’s 4-1 win at Amazon FK

In the 2. Deild Karla in Iceland Kile Kennedy played a full match when KF Fjarðabyggðar drew 1-1 with Huginn KF and stays on top of the league.

In the Nadeshiko League in Japan Clare Polkinghorne played a full match in INAC Kobe Leonessa’s 2-1 loss against Okayama Belle Yunogo. Elise Kellond-Knight played a full match while Tameka Butt came on after 90 minutes when Iga FC Kunoichi lost 2-1 at NTV Beleza.

In the K-League Classic in Korea, Aleksandar Jovanovic played a full match in Jeju United’s scoreless draw with Pohang Steelers. Robbie Cornthwaite was an unused substitute when Jeonnam Dragons drew 2-2 with FC Seoul. Luke DeVere was an unused substitute in Gyeongnam FC’s scoreless draw at Suwon Bluewings.

In the W-League Chloe Logarzo played a full match and set up three goals, Tara Andrews played 60 minutes and scored while Ashley Spina came on after 60 minutes when Daniel Clitnovici’s Colorado Pride won 6-0 at local rivals Colorado Storm.
