Bayswater storm into NPL Grand Final

Bayswater City booked their spot in the NPL Grand Final against Blacktown City following a 6-0 thrashing of Tasmania’s Olympia FC on Sunday.

The Western Australian club were only 2-0 up at the break but scored a stunning four goals in the second-half to seal the semi-final victory.

Olympia had plenty of confidence after knocking off Victorian premiers South Melbourne the week before but collapsed at Frank Drago Reserve in Perth.

Former Perth Glory youth winger Borbor Sam played a great cross for David Heagney to open the scoring on 13 minutes.

The second came fifteen minutes later when Colombian Gustavo Giron finished off a great move from Bayswater.

Heagney scored his second to make it 3-0 on 64 minutes before Sam scored a goal of his own shortly after.

Less than 60 seconds later former Huddersfield Town man Heagney netted his hat-trick, before Sam rounded out the scoring with two minutes left on the clock.

The final will take place this weekend in Perth, with FFA to confirm a date and venue in the coming days.
