Hip injury puts Kennedy in doubt

Melbourne City FC have confirmed striker Josh Kennedy suffered a hip injury during the club's emphatic 4-0 win over Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park on Friday night.

A scan on Monday revealed the World Cup veteran injured a hip rotator muscle before being substituted for David Williams in the 54th minute.

Kennedy is now in doubt for Melbourne City’s clash against Sydney FC on Friday but could return for the following match against Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park, as the two clubs battle it out for the top six.

Also on the injury front, Singaporean international Safuwan Baharudin was omitted from the team on Friday night due to a slight concussion, sustained in a head clash against Western Sydney Wanderers two days earlier.
