Hutchinson breaks Melbourne City's heart

Central Coast Mariners captain John Hutchinson scored at the death to deny Melbourne City their first home win of the season in a 2-2 draw at AAMI Park.

Melbourne City were in control at 2-0 but two late goals from the Mariners saw them steal a point.

City started brighty and took the lead after just 10 minutes when Mate Dugandzic headed home from a Iain Ramsay cross.

The home side had the better of the action in the first half and almost made it 2-0 on a number of occasions.

Mariners goalkeeper Liam Reddy made a number of saves including one of the saves of the season to deny David Williams and then Jason Hoffman.

Just like in the first half City started the second period with a bang and a header from Erik Paartalu this time eventually made it 2-0.

City were in control for most of the game but were forced to sweat out the last ten minutes when Glen Trifiro found the back of the net with a superb free-kick.

John van't Schip's could not hold on and Hutchinson's right-foot ensures the points were to be shared.

More to follow.
