Melbourne City vs Central Coast Mariners: Player Ratings

Central Coast Mariners fought from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw against Melbourne City at AAMI Park on Sunday evening. Check out all the player ratings from the game below.

ANDREW REDMAYNE – 8 Pulled off a strong save in the 14th minute to deny Fitzgerald. Made another good save off Sim in the second half. Solid. The Trifiro free kick was really good so he couldn’t do much.

PATRICK KISNORBO – 8 Held the line pretty well at the back for City. Mariners did get some sniffs in the box but well cut out by Kisnorbo.

JASON HOFFMAN – 7 Got high up which suits his game. Delivered some good balls into the box. Defended well.

ROB WIELAERT – 7.5 Held City’s line well.

IAIN RAMSAY – 7.5 Assisted Dugandzic for the first goal. Great work down the left.

LIAM MILLER – 7.5 Has come from no club to starting again. Linked up well with Paartalu. Not easy coming into new system.

ERIK PAARTALU – 8.5 Credit for a brilliant diagonal ball to Ramsay that set-up the first goal. He is finding fitness and improving with each game. Got onto the scoresheet with a clinical header. Was City’s best player today.

JACOB MELLING – 7  Gets a start. Played as one of the midfield three in front of Paartalu. Battled ok. Good powerful shot from a free kick 76th minute. Not disgraced in Mooy’s absence.

DAVID WILLIAMS – 7 Playing with good confidence in the final third. A roaming striker up front that made runs into the widths. Good shift.

MATE DUGANDZIC – 7.5 Not a recognized striker we know but filling the void as the best finisher out of all the midfielders and was at it again. Proving to be good now.

DAMIEN DUFF – 8 Good. Second goal great cross, perfect dip, placement. Great assist. In general play delivered some great crosses.

JAMES BROWN – 5.5 On 74th minute. Had some touches and provided an attacking option.

MARC MARINO – 6 Comes on with half an hour to go. Had a few good opportunities, couldn’t convert but lively.

LIAM REDDY – 6.5 Couldn’t be blamed for the first goal. Made a save off Williams in the 34th minute, was routine but ball swerving a bit. Questions on the second goal. Came off his line and got caught out.

JACOB POSCOLIERO – 7 Couldn’t contain City’s front pronged attack. Not a bad player. Pretty good with the ball.

ZACHARY ANDERSON – 6 Gets back into the starting line-up. Got caught on a number of occasions.

JOSHUA ROSE – 5.5 Lucky not to be punished for a poor clearance in the second half Melling couldn’t capitalise. Not used to playing centre back but it didn’t work.

MICHAEL NEILL – 7 Settling into A-League life and so far been good.

NICK MONTGOMERY – 5.5 Worked in tandem with Hutchinson. Didn’t see as much with the ball. Taken off.

MATTHEW SIM – 7 Had a good opportunity to level the scores but good save by Redmayne. Was fairly busy in midfield. Got into last third trying to create something for Mariners.

ANTHONY CACERES – 6.5 Is a good passer of the ball but didn’t see a lot of daylight today.

JOHN HUTCHINSON – 7 Distribution ok without any killer passing. When you needed the captain to lift he did right at the death!

MITCHELL DUKE – 6 Played more holding up balls and putting players in. Tried best under the circumstances but things couldn’t work it.

NICK FITZGERALD – 6.5 Number 10 that tried to get into the game. Had a good shot from outside the area well saved by Redmayne. Most lively player for Mariners in the last third. Second half a little quiet.

ISAKA CERNAK – N/A On 79th minute.

GLEN TRIFIRO – 7.5 On with half an hour to go. Made an impact with a beautiful free kick and also got an assist.
