Postecoglou praises Celtic for Rogic revival

If Tom Rogic continues his resurgence with Celtic, Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou believes the classy midfielder will be a key player for both club and country.

Rogic has returned to the Scottish powerhouse from recent World Cup qualifiers in scintillating form.

On Sunday he continued his stunning comeback, scoring a goal and setting up another as Celtic thrashed Dundee United 6-0.

Postecoglou paid tribute to Celtic for managing the midfielder’s injury return in the right way.

“He’s in a much better place both mentally and physically,” the Socceroos boss said.

“Obviously he’s had a tough couple of years. I think Celtic are certainly doing the right thing by him and they are giving him every chance to get back.

“There is no doubt that he his talented and he is starting to show that now.  I think he has become an integral player for Celtic – if that happens he becomes an integral player for us.

“I’m really pleased, post our last camp, that he’s gone back (to Celtic) and he’s played a couple of strong games – the last game in particular.

“It just shows that what they are doing with him is certainly working and hopefully we get the benefit of that as well.”

Postecoglou added that the 22-year-old’s form does not mean he should be eyeing a move away from The Hoops anytime soon, especially after the club side showed patience with his injuries over the past two years.

“I think he’s just got himself (right) at Celtic he needs to establish himself there first,” Postecoglou said.

“Like I said before he’s in a good space right now.

“There were plenty of opportunities for him and Celtic to part ways when he was struggling, but now that he is doing well its think really important that he just keeps doing what he’s doing.”
