SA mayor's cheeky football challenge

Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty has challenged the Lord Mayor of Parramatta City Council to put it all on the line with a cheeky bet before this weekend's A-League Grand Final.

Docherty made the cheeky challenge on Youtube as he attended the final open training session in Playford, where the Reds main training base is located.

The Lord Mayor was detailed and clear on the terms and conditions of the challenge he put forward to the Paramatta City Council.

"On Monday morning, we want you to fly the City of Playford flag over your town hall," Docherty said.

"We want him to walk around the streets of Adelaide walking around in that beautiful Adelaide United guernsey (sic) and most of all to declare it an Adelaide United special day in the heart of Western Sydney."

The Lord Mayor sneakily threw in a barb, declaring that his opposite number would be up for the challenge.

"I know he's up for a challenge, I know our team's the best, I know he'll really enjoy wearing that wonderful red top to his next council meeting," he said.

Lord Mayor of Paramatta Scott Lloyd is yet to respond.
