Stirling work but Roar prove too good

Brisbane Roar have stormed into the final 16 of the FFA Cup with a 4-0 away win over the Stirling Lions at the Western Australia Athletics Stadium in Perth tonight.

A first half goal to Henrique, and second half strikes to Corey Brown, Matt Smith and Jean Carlos Solorzano made it an easy night for the reigning A-League champions.

The Lions came close to snatching an early lead when Hayden Doyle hit the woodwork on 10 minutes.

Roar took until the half-hour mark to unlock the Lions' stubborn defence when Henrique cleared a goalmouth scramble with a delightful overhead kick.

It was a bright start for the home side, but after the break the floodgates opened as two-time Johnny Warren medallist Thomas Broich imposed himself on the game.

Corey Brown doubled Brisbane's lead on 55 minutes before skipper, Smith, headed home off a pinpoint cross from Broich just after the hour.

On 68 minutes a free kick by Dimi Petratos bounced back off the post and fell straight to substitute Solorzano who had a simple tap in to bring up Roar's fourth.

Moses Kalau looked lively for the WA lads and came close to snatching a late consolation goal.
