Mikel Arteta has revealed he was offered his new Arsenal contract on the back of three consecutive defeats – a gesture he believes shows how serious the club are at backing him to be a success.

The Spaniard signed a new three-year deal on Friday, having initially taken the reins at the Emirates Stadium in December 2019 following the dismissal of Unai Emery.
