Aussies Abroad action starts in Germany this week in the 2. Bundesliga, where Matthew Leckie scored a goal and chipped in with an assist in two games, while Ben Halloran was also on the scoresheet. In the top division, Socceroo backup goalkeeper Mitch Langerak continued to stand in goals for struggling Borussia Dortmund, but couldn’t help his side pick up maximum points in either of their games this week.

There was also goal mouth action in the Netherlands, where Eli Babalj scored for AZ Alkmaar’s youth team, and Socceroo attacker Tommy Oar set up the opening goal of the game as FC Utrecht cruised to a 3-0 win. Plus more goals this week from Hong Kong, where Dylan Macallister had an instant impact off the bench in the League Cup, scoring an equalising goal within seconds of coming on.

Kicking off in the English Premier League, Brad Jones played a full match as Liverpool FC rescued a 2-2 draw at home against Arsenal FC. Mile Jedinak also played a full match as Crystal Palace lost 3-0 away to champions Manchester City. Chris Herd was an unused substitute as Aston Villa was held to a 1-1 home draw by Manchester United. Jason Davidson was not in the squad for West Bromwich Albion as they lost 3-2 away to Queens Park Rangers. Curtis Good was also not in the squad as Newcastle United lost the Tyne-Wear derby 1-0 to local rivals Sunderland AFC.

In the Championship in England, Adam Federici played a full match while Ryan Edwards was not in the squad as Reading FC lost 1-0 at home to Watford FC. Scott McDonald played until the 55th minute as Millwall FC lost 1-0 at home to Bolton Wanderers. Rhys Williams was not in the squad for Middlesbrough FC as they lost 2-0 away to Ipswich Town. Both Cameron Burgess and Adam Taggart were not in the squad as Fulham FC won 4-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

In the English League One, Massimo Luongo played a full match as Swindon Town lost 1-0 at home to Doncaster Rovers. Neil Kilkenny played a full match while Bailey Wright was missing due to injury for Preston North End as they won 1-0 away at Peterborough United. James Meredith played a full match as Bradford City was held to a 1-1 home draw by Scunthorpe United. Shane Lowry also played a full match for Leyton Orient as they lost 2-0 away to Barnsley FC. Bradden Inman was not in the squad for Crewe Alexandra as they beat Bristol City 1-0.

In League Two in England, Alex Cisak played a full match as York City played out a 2-2 draw with Bury FC. Shane Cansdell-Sherriff also played a full match as Burton Albion played out a scoreless draw with Southend United.  James Wesolowski was missing due to injury as Shrewsbury Town won 1-0 at home to Morecambe FC.

In the English Conference Premier, Mitchell Austin was an unused substitute as Southport FC won 2-1 away at Woking FC. Aaron Downes was missing due to suspension for Torquay United as they lost 2-0 away to Braintree Town. Alex Grant was an unused substitute as Macclesfield Town ran out 5-1 winners away to Alfreton Town. Lee Burns was not in the squad for Dartford FC as they won 3-1 away at Wrexham FC. Alex Baird was also not in the squad as Gateshead FC lost 3-2 away to Bristol Rovers.

In the Conference South in England, Jeremy Walker played until half-time for Concord Rangers as they lost 3-1 away to Bishop’s Stortford. Shane Huke was an unused substitute as Ebbsfleet United lost 1-0 at home to Weston-super-Mare.

In the quarterfinals of the League Cup in England, Brad Jones played a full match for Liverpool FC as they advanced to the semi-finals following a 3-1 win away to AFC Bournemouth. Mark Schwarzer was an unused substitute for Chelsea FC as they won 3-1 away at Championship side Derby County. Curtis Good was not in the squad for Newcastle United as they lost 4-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur.

In the quarterfinals of the English Football League Trophy, Neil Kilkenny and Bailey Wright were not in the squad for Preston North End as they won 1-0 away to Notts County.

In the U21 English Premier League Division 1, Callum Elder played a full match as Leicester City U21 was held to a 3-3 draw at home by Southampton FC U21. Brad Smith also played a full match as Liverpool FC U21 played out a 1-1 draw with Norwich City U21. Meanwhile, in Division 2, Hyuga Tanner came on in the 46th minute before being sent off in the 80th minute as Blackburn Rovers U21 lost 4-2 at home to Derby County U21. Jordan Lyden was not in the squad and Thomas Strain was on the bench at the start of the match for Aston Villa U21 while Rhys Williams played for Middlesbrough FC until the 66th minute as the side’s played out a goalless draw. 

In the U21 PDL League 2 – South Division in England, Giancarlo Gallifuoco played a full match while James Demetriou played until half-time as Swansea City U21 won 2-0 away to Bristol City U21. Aaron Lennox was not in the squad for Queens Park Rangers U21 as they lost 2-0 away to Charlton Athletic U21.

In the English Evo-Stik Division One South, Greg Downes played a full match as Romulus FC drew 2-2 with Newcastle Town.

In the FA Trophy in England, Mitchell Austin played a full match as Southport FC lost 2-0 away to Wrexham FC. Jeremy Walker played a full match for Concord Rangers as they cruised to a 6-2 away win over Barnet FC.

In the U21 English Premier League Cup, Gethin Jones played a full match as Everton FC U21 lost 2-0 away to Huddersfield Town U21.

In the Italian Serie A, Josh Brillante was not in the squad as AC Fiorentina drew 1-1 home against Empoli FC. Panos Armenakas was also not in the squad as Udinese drew 2-2 away at Sampdoria.

In the Lega Pro in Italy, Liam Graham was not in the squad for either match as Aurora Pro Patria first lost 3-1 at US Cremonese before losing 2-0 at home to Unione Venezia.

In the quarterfinals of the Italian Coppa Primavera, Chris Ikonomidis played a full match as Lazio Youth won 4-1 at home to Palermo Youth.

In the German Bundesliga, Mitch Langerak played a full match as Borussia Dortmund lost 2-1 away at Werder Bremen. Robbie Kruse was not in the squad for Bayer Leverkusen as they drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt. In matches played earlier in the week, Langerak again played a full match for Dortmund as they played out a 2-2 draw with VfL Wolfsburg. Kruse was again not in the squad as Leverkusen won 1-0 away at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

In the 2. Bundesliga in Germany, Mathew Leckie played a full match and set up his side’s final goal as FC Ingolstadt 04 were held to a 2-2 draw away at SV Darmstadt 98. Ben Halloran played until the 85th minute as Fortuna Dusseldorf won 1-0 at home to Union Berlin. In matches played earlier in the week, Halloran played a full match and scored the equalising goal as Fortuna went on to win 2-1 away at Eintracht Braunschweig. Leckie also played a full match and scored the opening goal of the game as Ingolstadt maintained top spot on the table with a 2-1 win at home to FC St. Pauli.

In the Eredivisie in the Netherlands, Tommy Oar played a full match and set up the opening goal of the game while Michael Zullo was missing due to injury as FC Utrecht won 3-0 away to AZ Alkmaar, for whom Eli Babalj was not in the squad. Trent Sainsbury was missing due to injury as PEC Zwolle lost 2-1 away to SC Cambuur. Luke Wilkshire played a full match as Feyenoord won 1-0 away to NAC Breda. In an earlier match, Wilkshire played until the 66th minute as Feyenoord lost 4-3 away to PSV Eindhoven.

In the Dutch Eerste Divisie, Kenneth Dougall played a full match while Alistair Quinn was not in the squad as SC Telstar drew 1-1 with Jong PSV. In the round of 16 in the Dutch KNVB Beker, Sainsbury was missing due to injury as PEC Zwolle won 1-0 away to VVV-Venlo, for whom both Ascroft and Cooper were not in the squad. Babalj was not in the squad for AZ Alkmaar as they won 2-1 at home to NEC Nijmegen.

In the Beloften Eredivisie in the Netherlands, Babalj played a full match and scored as Jong AZ Alkmaar won 4-2 at home to Jong Sparta Rotterdam.

In the Eerste Klasse in Belgium, James Troisi played a full match as SV Zulte Waregem won 1-0 away to Mouscron-Peruwelz. Mat Ryan also played a full match as Club Brugge won 4-1 at home to Racing Genk.

In the first leg of quarterfinal ties in the Beker van Belgie, Ryan played a full match and kept a clean sheet as Club Brugge played out a 0-0 draw away to KV Mechelen. Troisi was missing due to suspension as SV Zulte Waregem lost 3-0 at home to RSC Anderlecht.

In the Primeira Liga in Portugal, Caleb Patterson-Sewell was an unused substitute as Gil Vicente lost 1-0 away to giants SL Benfica.

In the round of 16 in the Taca de Portugal, Patterson-Sewell was an unused substitute as Gil Vicente won 2-1 at home to FC Penafiel.

In the Turkish SuperLig, Aziz Behich played a full match as Bursaspor played out a 3-3 draw at home to Trabzonspor.

In the 3. Lig in Turkey, Kaan Korkmaz was not in the squad as Sakaryaspor came back to draw 1-1 with Orhangazispor.

In Round 4 of the Turkish Kupasi, Behich was an unused substitute as Bursaspor drew 1-1 away to Fatih Karagumruk. Emre Balci was also an unused substitute as Diyarbakir BBSK lost 3-0 away to Eskisehirspor.

In the Greek Superleague, Apostolis Giannou played a full match as Panionios GSS drew 2-2 with Atromitos FC. Theo Markelis was not in the squad as Veria FC won 2-0 at home to Niki Volou, for whom Robert Stambolziev came on in the 65th minute. In matches played earlier in the week, Giannou again played a full match as Panionios GSS lost 2-0 away to Olympiakos. Markelis was again not in the squad as Veria drew 1-1 away to Panthrakikos.

In the Football League 2 in Greece, Billy Konstantinidis was missing due to injury for both games as Doxa Dramas FC first lost 2-0 away to Kambaniakos before drawing 1-1 at home to Iraklis Ampelokypoi. Giannis Simosis was also missing due to injury as Panargeiakos FC won 1-0 away to Doxa Nea Manolada.

In the Prva Liga in Croatia, Roko Strika was not in the squad for NK Zagreb as they lost 2-1 at home to HNK Rijeka.

In the Scottish Premier League, Jackson Irvine played until the 79th minute as Ross County lost 1-0 at home to Hamilton Academical. Tom Rogic was not in the squad as Celtic FC lost 2-1 away to Dundee United.

In the Maltese Premier League, Adrian Zahra was not in the squad as Valletta FC won 3-1 at home to Sliema Wanderers.

In the Arabian Gulf League in the United Arab Emirates, Brett Holman played 90 minutes in both matches as Al Nasr first lost 2-0 away at Ittihad Kalba before again losing 2-0, this time at home to Al Wahda.

In the Qatar Stars League, Mark Bresciano played until 76th minute as Al Gharafa lost 2-1 away to Al Arabi.

In the final of the Indian Super League, Andrew Barisic was an unused substitute as Kerala Blasters lost 1-0 to Atletico Kolkata thanks to a winning goal scored in second half stoppage time. In second leg semi-final ties played earlier in the week, Tolgay Ozbey came on in the 91st minute and converted his penalty in the shoot-out but it wasn’t enough as FC Goa suffered a 4-2 shoot-out loss to Atletico Kolkata after both legs of the tie finished goalless. Barisic was again an unused substitute as Kerala lost 3-1 in extra time to Chennaiyin FC, with Kerala advancing to the final with an aggregate score of 4-3.

In the Hong Kong League Cup, Jerrad Tyson played a full match as Sun Pegasus drew 1-1 with Eastern Salon, for whom Dylan Macallister came on in the 68th minute and scored the equalising goal. Evan Kostopoulos played until the 79th minute as South China AA played out a goalless draw with Yuen Long.

In the Uruguayan Segunda Division, Blake Ricciuto played until 92nd minute as Canadian SC played out a goalless draw with Miramar Misiones.
