Former Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United defender Antony Golec has signed a two-year deal with Perth Glory.
Golec, 24, made 17 A-League appearances for the Wanderers throughout their poor 2014-15 campaign.
He was released by the Asian champions at the end of the season, with his expected move to Kenny Lowe’s Glory confirmed on Saturday.
"I am very excited to be joining Perth Glory for the next two years,” Golec said.
“Perth is no doubt an attractive city with nice weather and beautiful beaches but I am looking forward to playing good football under coach Kenny Lowe and his assistant Andy Ord.
“I have been able to get to know them well in recent years, so I'm looking forward to the move.”
Golec’s addition is an important move for the Glory, who are expected to lose numerous players in the wake of the salary cap scandal.
Lowe talked up Golec’s ability to play both in the centre of defence and on the left.
“He’s got a good pedigree, played for two top clubs in Australia, he’s versatile and has played in an Asian Champions League final, so that tells you what kind of player he is,” he said.
Golec will arrive in Perth next month before pre-season training starts in mid-June.comments
