Swindon Town’s Australian-born Brad Smith has returned to parent club Liverpool after suffering a knee injury which is expected to keep him out for at least a month.
Smith, 20, sustained the injury in Tuesday’s Capital One Cup win at Luton Town and was subsequently sent back to Anfield for scans.
Swindon’s initial scans suggested Smith, who had joined Town on a season-long loan, had suffered a grade one medial strain which would keep him out for four-to-six weeks.
He has since been sent back to Liverpool to undergo further scans and complete his rehabilitation.
"He probably won't feature for a few weeks," Swindon manager Mark Cooper told BBC Wiltshire.
“He’s tested as though it’s not a tear. It’s a strain. We're waiting for a scan result from Liverpool but he certainly won't be able to feature for a few games."
The setback is a cruel blow for Smith who only arrived at Swindon last week, hoping for game-time after making his debut, and only appearance, for Liverpool last season against Chelsea.comments
