Juventus touch down in Sydney to a rousing welcome

Proving the Old Lady’s appeal has not dimmed over the years, a wave of diehard fans rolled up in the wee hours to  witness the arrival of Juventus at Sydney Airport.

Wearing the team's iconic black and white strip, hundreds were on hand when the Bianconeri touched down at 6am ahead of their All Stars clash on Sunday.

As the Italian champions channelled their way through the excited gathering, those who had arrived hours earlier to nab a front-row spot moved in for a selfie or an autograph.

Joseph Gaudioso told Fairfax Media: "To see them in the flesh, to touch them and get a signature, it's all I wanted.

"People don't really understand, we've been watching these guys since we were kids and they went through a bit of a tough time but for them to bounce back is awesome."

Twitter lit up with tales of near misses and lucky encounters. After the rousing welcome several players were snapped enjoying the sights of Sydney harbour.

The star-studded line-up - including Andrea Pirlo, legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez - will take on the cream of the A-League in front of more than 50,000 people at ANZ Stadium.
