Manchester City star Yaya Toure has been surprised by the standard of Melbourne City and Adelaide United despite his side's two wins.
A late volley from Samir Nasri helped Manuel Pellegrini's men to a 1-0 win over Melbourne City on Saturday evening.
That win came just days after the Premier League side overcame Adelaide United 2-0.
The level of competition from the A-League clubs surprised Toure, who starred against Melbourne City and struck the crossbar.
"Fantastic [standard]. We were a little bit surprised," he told Fox Sports.
"OK, we are in pre-season, but I think today Melbourne City gave us a great game.
"They had a couple of chances to score and I think today we were lucky to win this game."
Toure and Stefan Mauk went closest to scoring – the latter missing a sitter – before Nasri struck.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said it was an ideal outing for both teams.
"It was a beautiful goal. Always fans like to see goals," he said.
"I think the most important thing was it was a very useful game for Melbourne City and for our team because it was a good pace, both teams always tried to play so I think it was a good game for the teams and for the fans."comments
