Mariners' Vernes and Neill out for the season

Central Coast Mariners midfielder Richard Vernes and defender Michael Neill will miss the rest of the A-League season through injury.

Vernes, who joined the club last year, has only made eight A-League appearances this season. The Hungarian last played for the Mariners in the 2-0 win over Melbourne City on January 4.

FourFourTwo understands Verne will not be available for the remaining seven fixtures in the current campaign after suffering a shoulder injury.

Young left back Michael Neill is also out indefinitely. The 20-year-old, who has played eight games in 2014-2015 campaign has a foot complaint that has ruled him out until next season.

Central Coast’s injury woes have continued with news that striker Matt Simon will be also on the sidelines for the next two to three weeks.

The forward has picked up a groin injury and will be back for the Mariners March 27 clash against Melbourne Victory at the earliest.
