Marinkovic inks two-year extension with Glory

Perth Glory FC have received a boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Sydney FC, with set piece specialist Nebo Marinkovic re-signing with the league leaders for another two years.

Marinkovic’s match-winning dead ball skills have been one of the highlights of Glory’s campaign this season.

The 28-year old Serbian has scored eight goals across the FFA Cup and A-League competitions.

Marinkovic, who has settled well into Perth since arriving just over a year ago, has extended his contract until June 2017.

“I love Perth – it’s an amazing place for me and my family and I have been very happy since the day we arrived,” the midfielder said.

“I want to do my bit to help Perth Glory win its first A-League championship. For me that is the top priority.”

The former Serbian youth international, who has played in Spain, Greece, Israel and Sweden, was quick to endear himself to club fans, securing Glory's first away win over Central Coast with a stunning 30-metre free kick in round five.

"Scoring goals is a great feeling and it's always good to see the fans celebrate with you when you've put the ball into the back of the net,” he said.

“They are an important part of the club and I'll be doing my bit to keep them happy over the next few seasons.”

Marinkovic's signature comes after crowd favourite Scott Jamieson recently re-signed with Glory for another two years with the option of a third.

The club has also brought in German Dragan Paljic to replace injured winger Youssouf Hersi.

Glory currently sit four points ahead of Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory.
