Polenz to train with Roar

Former Western Sydney Wanderers full-back Jerome Polenz could be set for a return to the A-League.

Champions Brisbane Roar have confirmed Polenz will start training with the club on Monday.

The club said it would "consider its options for next month's transfer window".

Polenz, 28, is back in Australia on holiday and has been with Norwegian club Sarpsborg 08 since August.

Brisbane Roar football director Ken Stead said the club "was always interested in quality players but no decision would be made on any new signings until the New Year".

Former Germany youth international Polenz was a premiership winner with the Wanderers.

Thanks but no thanks. We don't need others hand-me-downs. We are used to being the club raided, not raiding others. I would prefer we be developing or pulling back Qld boys from overseas. Or if we are going to be using visa spots, find our own rough diamonds to polish. Even more to the point, our defence is not our problem. Only 4 others teams have conceded less and the best of them only 3 less than us. Whilst 6 other teams have scored more and the best of them a whopping 13 more than us. That is where we want to be using precious visa spots.
