Popovic praises 'always dangerous' Bulut
Bulut crucially restored the visitors’ lead in the first half at Suncorp Stadium before sealing his side’s first away win of the season late in proceedings, improving his tally to four goals in as many Hyundai A-League appearances.
“He’s a goalscorer,” Popovic said.
“He shows that – he’s always on the spot to finish and he’s always dangerous.
“His fitness is nowhere near where it should be. He had a seven month layoff so he’s at times running on empty. But he’s got great enthusiasm and he just wants to score.
“The boys provided him with two great balls and he did the rest.”
The victory lifted Wanderers back above Newcastle Jets, after the weekend’s home defeat to Phil Stubbins’ side, and helped to build momentum for their AFC Champions League title defence.
Popovic felt fortune was finally favouring the two-time Grand Finalists.
“In patches we’ve been very good this season,” the former Socceroos defender said.
“I keep saying it, we’re playing good football but we keep getting punished for our mistakes and we keep having to come from behind.
“The difference was tonight, as opposed to Newcastle, we had three one-on-ones and we were down 2-0 to Newcastle. Tonight we took those chances.
“The win was thoroughly deserved.”
