Risdon transfer hits roadblock

EXCLUSIVE: An overseas move for Perth Glory full-back Josh Risdon has stalled over the payment of a transfer fee.

FourFourTwo understands an unnamed Belgian club has refused to pay a fee for the talented young defender, who is under contract with the Glory next season.

Risdon enjoyed an outstanding 2014-2015 campaign, making 25 A-League appearances at right-back.

The 22-year-old, who has been earmarked for future Socceroos selection, scored two goals and recorded one assist last season.

Risdon has played close to 100 games for Perth since making his debut in 2010 at the age of 18.

A Perth Glory spokesperson told FourFourTwo Risdon will be staying with the club.

"Josh has another year and is staying," he said.

“He is an important part of our squad heading into the next season.”

Tony Rallis, Risdon’s agent, said the defender will be remaining at nib Stadium.

"I respect Perth Glory FC and the right of Australian clubs to seek transfer fees for developing players," he told FourFourTwo.

"The matter is now dead."

The Glory have already been hit with several departures in the past few months, including Scott Jamieson, Danny Vukovic, Youssouf Hersi, Jack Duncan, Riley Woodcock and Brandon O’Neill.

Striker Jamie Maclaren is also seeking a move away from the club.

Alex Grant and Antony Golec have been signed by Perth ahead of the 2015-2016 campaign.
