Australian midfielder Ryan Edwards is set to face his first proper test this pre-season as Reading FC host English Premier League side Swansea on Saturday.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye of many this pre-season and even earned the tag 'phenomenal' from his boss Nigel Adkins.
Since returning from his loan deal at Perth Glory Edwards has scored the winning goal against Exeter City and provided assists in the following two matches.
“The praise has been really good,” Edwards told the Reading Post.
“But it’s only been four games and I need to do this in the Championship to prove my worth.
“Consistency is the key. I’ve had a good start and that was the plan because before pre-season not many people knew of me.
“Now I’ve just need to keep my head down and make sure I’m on that team sheet come the first day of the new season.”
Edwards will make his maiden senior apperance at the Madejski Stadium against Swansea on Saturday - Reading's first high profile test this pre-season.
“We want to be playing against the best in football,” Edwards said.
“Reading deserve to be in the Premier League so Swansea will be a good test for us this weekend.
“A lot of their squad went to the World Cup and they have some very good players who I look up to. It’s an exciting game.”comments
