Championship club Ipswich Town have announced they are on the verge of signing Australian winger Tommy Oar.
Town manager Mick McCarthy announced the imminent arrival of Oar via the club's official Youtube channel.
Oar, 23, has been a free agent following the conclusion of his contract at Dutch club FC Utrecht at the end of the 2014/15 season.
The winger will arrive on Portman Road over the weekend to complete the deal.
"We have watched Tommy a few times and checked him out on our scouting system. We have done our due diligence on him and he will be a good signing for us,” said McCarthy.
“I spoke to Jan Wouters [former Holland international], who worked with him at Utrecht, and he gave him a glowing report.
“He is quick and direct and puts some great crosses in. He does all the tracking back as well.
"I’m delighted to have him. He’s a full Australian international and he will add to the competition here."
Ipswich currently top the Championship table after four rounds with three wins and a draw.
Their next game is at home to second-place Brighton & Hove Albion.
