The referee for tonight's Algeria and Austria match is Ilgiz Tantashev, an official from Uzbekistan.

Both sides still have a chance of getting through to the knockout stage. A draw would see both sides progress on four points and a win for either side would leave the loser hoping to progress as one of the best eight third-placed sides in that scenario.

The 42-year-old is one of the more experienced officials at this summer's World Cup having been active since 2008.

At the 2024 Olympics, Tantashev's final match was a semifinal between Morocco and Spain, where he was forced to abandon the game in the 11th minute due to a collision with Spanish defender Marc Pubill.

Running the line will be two of his countrymen, Andrey Tsapenko and Timur Gaynullin.

The fourth official is Katia Itzel Garcia, with fellow Mexican Sandra Ramírez as the reserve official.

VAR details are yet to be confirmed.
