Celtic’s Europa League adventure begins in Latvia on Thursday, where they face Virsliga champions Riga in a one-legged winner-takes-all clash.
The Scots fell to a shock home defeat to Ferencvaros at the end of August to end their Champions League hopes early, and they must now battle through two qualifying rounds to reach the group stages of Europe’s secondary competition.
Neil Lennon’s men have been in imperious domestic form since their loss to the Hungarians, winning four on the trot in the Scottish Premiership to go one point off top with a game in hand over first-placed Rangers.
Star striker Odsonne Edouard, who has been linked with a move away from the club throughout the summer, is set to start after being rested for Saturday’s 3-2 league win over Livingston.
However, Lennon is without defender Christopher Jullien and winger Mikey Johnston through injury.
Another player to be linked with an exit is centre-back Kristoffer Ajer, a reported target for Italian giants AC Milan.
But Lennon confirmed that the Norwegian will be in his team in the Latvian capital.
“He will start tomorrow and he's looking forward to the game,” said the Bhoys boss.
“You can't control speculation. As always, there's been no concrete offers or concrete confirmation of anything and we don't want to sell him.
"He's in a good place mentally. I spoke to him on it yesterday and I'm there to support him.”
Riga currently sit four points clear at the top of the table in the Latvian top-flight, and are already midway through their season, having played 19 games.
They dropped into the Europa League after losing 2-0 in their Champions League first qualifying round clash with Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv.
A week ago, their second qualifying round tie against San Marino’s Tre Fiori was interrupted because of safety concerns caused by bad weather at Riga’s Skonto Stadium, but they eventually recorded a 1-0 win the following day.
The winner of the tie will face either Sarajevo or Buducnost Podgorica in the play-off round.
