Santa Cruz & Cardozo score in Paraguay win

MADRID - Striker Oscar Cardozo scored twice and Roque Santa Cruz made an encouraging return from injury for Paraguay in a 3-1 win over Spanish club Athletic Bilbao in a World Cup warm-up on Wednesday.

However, Nelson Haedo, Mexico City shooting victim Salvador Cabanas's usual attacking partner during the qualifiers, came off with a thigh injury just before the hour.

Santa Cruz, who has been plagued by a recurring knee injury this season, laid on the opening goal in the 11th minute for Cardozo and scored the second in the 21st.

Cardozo made it three just before halftime and Athletic pulled one back in the 82nd minute.
