Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be battling it to put themselves in a great position in World Cup Group B this evening when they go up against one another.

Both sides drew 1-1 in their opening fixtures, meaning any winners tonight would be in a strong position to progress beyond the group stage and into the knockouts.

However, both sides are stubborn customers and won't be easily beaten, meaning tonight's head-to-head could be a cagey affair.

Switzerland vs Bosnia and Herzegovina predictions

The bookies have Switzerland as favourites for this game, but they showed in their opener against Qatar that scoring isn't exactly their forte and that they can be vulnerable in defence.

What's more, Bosnia have proven themselves to be tough cookies in recent games, particularly in qualification against Wales and Italy, suggesting they won't be easily swept aside.

All signs point to this being a very cagey battle, with both sides known for being physical and combative.

Bosnia have embraced their underdog status, with head coach Sergej Barbarez saying before the tournament "If you look at the previous 20 or so games there were only two teams that were ranked lower than us, and if you know our results, I think that you have to just admire what we’ve managed to achieve.”

While the odds suggest this should be a Switzerland victory, there's absolutely no guarantee that they will find life easy against a side who have already taken points against a side they were expected to lose to, when they drew 1-1 with hosts Canada.

It's unlikely to be a pretty match, or one that will be memorable come the end of the tournament, but there's plenty at stake for both sides, and that could spur Bosnia on to another impressive performance.

A win would put the victors in with a great chance of progressing to the qualifying rounds, while defeat would leave either side in need of a big performance in their final group match.
