Manchester United will move to within two points of Premier League leaders Liverpool if they beat Wolves on Tuesday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side may have been knocked out of the Champions League earlier this month, but they have been in excellent form domestically. As well as advancing to the semi-finals of the League Cup with victory over Everton last week, United have now gone eight top-flight games without defeat. A 2-2 draw with Leicester last time out leaves the Red Devils five points adrift of top spot, although they currently have at least one game in hand on the teams above them. A title challenge looks to be well within United’s grasp.
Wolves have not been able to match United for consistency in recent weeks, having won two, drawn one and lost three of their last six Premier League encounters. Nuno Espirito Santo will have been pleased with how his side acquitted themselves last time out, as Wolves came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Tottenham. Goals have been hard to come by this term - only the division’s bottom four clubs have found the net less often - but Wolves remain difficult to break down as they target another top-seven finish.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will require a late fitness test after missing the Leicester game, but Victor Lindelof looks set to miss out. Marcus Rashford is expected to be fit despite a shoulder problem, but Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones remain sidelined. Daniel James is rated as 50-50 but will have to settle for a place on the bench even if he is passed fit.
Wolves remain without Raul Jimenez, with Fabio Silva likely to lead the line in the Mexican’s absence. Jonny Otto, Willy Boly and Leander Dendoncker are also out, so Nuno may continue with the four-man backline that he used in the draw with Spurs.
