Aussies Abroad Weekend Wrap

We start this week in Malaysia, where Aussies scored all three goals in Negeri Sembilan’s 3-1 win, with Taylor Regan, Joel Chianese, and Alex Smith on the scoresheet, while in another match Andrew Nabbout scored both goals as Negeri went down 3-2.

In England, Andy Rose scored the only goal as Coventry won 1-0 over James Meredith’s Bradford City in League One, while Matilda’s defender Stephanie Catley this week scored the first ever goal for National Women’s Soccer League expansion side Orlando Pride.

Elsewhere, there were goals for Brett Holman in the UAE, Stefan Valentini in the German lower divisions, Ryan Griffiths in Hong Kong, and Racheal Quigley in the Korea.

UK

In the semi-finals of the FA Cup in England, Mile Jedinak played a full match for Crystal Palace as they won 2-1 over Watford FC.

In the English Premier League, Adam Federici was an unused substitute as AFC Bournemouth lost 4-1 at home to Chelsea FC. Jordan Lyden was also an unused substitute as relegated Aston Villa FC lost 4-2 at home to Southampton FC. Mark Schwarzer was another unused substitute as Leicester City ran out 4-0 winners over Swansea City. Brad Smith was an unused substitute for Liverpool FC while Curtis Good was not in the squad for Newcastle United as the sides played out a 2-2 draw. Earlier in the week, Jedinak again played a full match as Palace lost 2-0 away to Manchester United. Smith was again an unused substitute as Liverpool beat local rivals Everton FC 4-0.
