A quieter week for our Aussies abroad with the Socceroos and Olyroos in camp, but still been plenty of goalmouth action around the world.
Tolgay Ozbey was on the scoresheet for the first time in the Indian Super League as his FC Goa side ran out 4-1 winners. Gavin de Niese was again hitting the back of the net in Argentina, as was Richard Porta in Ecuador - scoring one and setting up another in two matches. Aussies were not just putting away the chances but creating them as well, with Josh McDonald coming on to set up a 90th minute equaliser for Nottingham Forest’s U21 side.
In League One in England, Neil Kilkenny played a full match while Bailey Wright was missing due to injury as Preston North End lost 2-1 at home to Bradford City, for whom James Meredith played a full match. Bradden Inman also played a full match as Crewe Alexandra played out a scoreless draw with Chesterfield FC. Shane Lowry played until the 69th minute as Leyton Orient lost 3-2 away to Gillingham FC. Massimo Luongo was missing due to National Team commitments with the Socceroos as Swindon Town won 1-0 at home to Bristol City. Ryan Williams was missing due to National Team commitments with the Olyroos as Barnsley FC won 3-2 at home to Colchester United.
In the English League Two, James Wesolowski played a full match for Shrewsbury Town as they won 2-0 at home to Mansfield Town. Alex Cisak also played a full match as York City lost 1-0 at home to Oxford United.
In the Conference Premier in England, Aaron Downes played a full match and set up his side’s final goal as Torquay United were held to a 3-3 draw at home by Forest Green. Alex Grant played until the 86th minute as Macclesfield Town played out a goalless draw with Welling United. Mitchell Austin played until the 63rd minute as Southport FC drew 1-1 with Dartford FC, for whom Lee Burns was not in the squad. Alex Baird was not in the squad for Gateshead FC as they lost 1-0 away to Chester FC. Joshua Riis was also not in the squad as Kidderminster Harriers drew 0-0 with Bristol Rovers. Daniel Collins was another not in the squad as Wrexham FC lost 1-0 away to Braintree Town.
