Cunningham tweets farewell to Phoenix fans

Costa Rican international Kenny Cunningham looks set to leave Wellington Phoenix after tweeting his goodbyes to fans.

The 29-ear-old striker winds up a two-year contract with Wellington as the club’s eighth highest goal scorer.

He made 40 A-League appearances for Phoenix, but under coach Ernie Merrick this season was mainly used as an impact player.

Cunningham was a 78th minute substitute for Phoenix in Sunday's Elimination Final, where they lost 2-0 at home to Melbourne City FC, bringing a disappointing end to their season.

Phoenix has a number of players off contract including New Zealand international Michael Boxall,  Josh Brindell South and Jason Hicks.
