Davidson close to Huddersfield Town move - report

Socceroos full-back Jason Davidson is close to joining Championship club Huddersfield Town, according to a report.

Chris Powell's side is ready to offer the 23-year-old regular first-team football and is close to completing a deal, The Huddersfield Daily Examiner said.

Davidson has been without a club since his unsuccessful one-season stay at West Brom came to an end.

The 18-time Australia international only made five appearances in all competitions for West Brom last season.

Despite that, he has played regularly for the national team – including every minute of last year's World Cup and four matches at the Asian Cup.

A move to west Yorkshire would extend Davidson's stay in England to a second season, having spent time at Pacos de Ferreira, Sporting Covilha and Heracles previously.

Huddersfield finished 16th in the Championship last season.
