Fan Park winnner named

Luke Zammit was good enough to predict the result of the FIFA World Cup opener, and he is confident the Socceroos can get something out of their clash against the Netherlands.

Correctly selecting a 3-1 win for Brazil over Croatia led to the 18-year-old from Victoria winning the Hyundai VIP Fan Park Experience.

If his tipping is on the ball once again, Zammit and his best mates Liam, Mitchell and Oliver will be celebrating a Socceroos result on Thursday morning.

"I'm confident of a result. I don't know why. I think Australia might be able to pull a draw," he said of the Netherlands clash.

"I saw them against Chile and they copped two early goals but after that they were very good."

Zammit watched the 3-1 loss to Chile at a friend's place, but will be joined by up to 4,000 others at The Star for the meeting with the Dutch.

He won a trip to Sydney, transfers, two nights' accommodation and VIP seats at the event hosted by former Socceroo Robbie Slater.

"I'm very excited about it. It's going to be a very good experience," Zammit said.

"It'll be good."

The other key Group B clash on Thursday morning, Spain against Chile at 5am, is also shown live at the event centre.

Braces from Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben saw the Dutch hammer reigning world and European champions Spain 5-1 in a rematch of their 2010 final.

It came as no surprise that Louis van Gaal's men impressed Zammit.

"They were really good – spectacular," he said.

"I'm not sure if that was because Spain were bad though."

If Zammit is right, as he was about the tournament opener, Socceroos fans will have plenty to smile about on Thursday morning.
