Hoffman linked to Jets after leaving City

Defender Jason Hoffman has been released by Melbourne City and is understood to be looking for a return to the Newcastle Jets.

City’s last foundation player, the 26-year-old has made 80 appearances during his five seasons with the A-League club.

The announcement means he will miss the outfit’s high profile clash with sister club and Premier League giants, Manchester City on Saturday.

City released a brief statement saying: “Hoffman has been an outstanding contributor to the club since his arrival. On behalf of the Club’s members, Melbourne City FC wishes Jason all the very best in the next chapter of his career.”

Hoffman, a former youth international, spent three seasons with the Jets after signing with the Hunter outfit in 2007.
