Italian giants Juventus edged the Newcastle Jets 1-0 in a friendly at Kogarah’s Jubiliee Oval on Wednesday.
The Serie A champions took on the Hunter outfit after defeating the A-League All-Stars 3-2 at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.
The 70 minute hit out was held behind closed doors at Juventus’ Sydney base.
Internationals Patrice Evra, Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez, Andrea Pirlo and Gianluigi Buffon were rested for the game.
Sebastian Giovinco scored the winning goal on 26 minutes when the striker beat Adrian Madaschi and then slotted past Ben Kennedy in goal.
The Jets appeared to have leveled at half-time, when David Carney launched a 50-metre shot from the kick-off that Juve goalkeeper Rubinho couldn’t stop.
However the Italians protested they weren’t ready for the resumption of play and Newcastle were ordered to retake the kick-off.
Jets head coach Phil Stubbins said Carney’s strike should have stood.
“We had a legitimate goal disallowed,” Stubbins told FourFourTwo
In other bad news for the home side, Newcastle midfielder Josh Barresi was forced from the field with a knee injury on 17 minutes.
