Kruse cops another injury setback

Socceroo Robbie Kruse’s horror run with injuries continues with the 26-year-old expected to miss four weeks with a hamstring injury.

VfB Stuttgart reported the latest setback after the Australian withdrew from a team training session on Tuesday.

Kruse made his debut for the club on Saturday, playing the last 35 minutes as his side were defeated 2-1 by Hertha Berlin.

Just last week the winger declared himself a "100 per cent fit" and was keen to put in a strong season after joining Stuttgart on loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

The deadline day move followed two seasons marred by ligament problems in his knee and ankle.

Kruse managed just 21 league appearances for Leverkusen since joining them prior to the 2013-14 season from Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Prior to the recent setback he told Stuttgart’s website: "The past couple of years didn't go so well, not least because I was out of action again and again.

"Now I am 100 per cent fit again."

Kruse added: "Above all else (I'm looking forward to) playing football.

"My worst phase is behind me now and I feel fit and strong."
