Former Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Iacopo La Rocca has signed a two-year deal with Adelaide United.
The Italian, 31, joins the Reds after spending three seasons in Western Sydney, where he made 58 A-League appearances.
La Rocca was part of the Wanderers' AFC Champions League-winning squad, and was released at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
The combative defensive midfielder said he was happy to be joining the team that "plays the best football in Australia".
“I was very happy to receive the phone call from [chief executive officer] Michael Petrillo and coach Josep Gombau," La Rocca said.
"I decided to sign because Adelaide showed they really wanted me and I am very happy to sign for one of the strongest clubs in Australia and to be part of this group of players.
“I reckon we can win more trophies. I believe my experience and a willingness to give my all for the team and coach at all times can help the team succeed."
Gombau was thrilled with the addition, lauding La Rocca's versatility.
“We are so happy with this new addition to our squad,” he said.
“Iacopo is a player who has extensive experience both here and internationally. He’s a proven winner and can also play in different positions.
"He brings a different dimension to our squad, which is something we were looking for."
La Rocca's signing seemingly ends Miguel Palanca's stay at the club.
With Marcelo Carrusca, Sergio Cirio, Isaias, Pablo Sanchez and now La Rocca – the Reds have their five foreign spots filled.comments
