Luongo brace puts Swindon's promotion bid back on track

Socceroo Massimo Luongo has put Swindon Town back in the mix for an automatic promotion bid with a classy brace against Bradford City.

Luongo, returning from injury, put an end to Town’s three-game losing streak with two first half goals, and could have had a hat-trick but for a top shelf save by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The 22-year-old has been in big demand from other clubs since his starring role in the Asian Cup, and his latest outing for The Robins won’t have dampened enthusiasm for the midfielder.

Billy Clarke made the most of Bradford’s first shot on target, putting away a loose ball on 54 minutes but Swindon survived a late scare to hold on for the 2-1 win.

The Robins sit third on the League One table, just two points of MK Dons in the second automatic promotion spot.
