Mathew Leckie helps Ingolstadt make history

Socceroo Mathew Leckie played 90 minutes as FC Ingolstadt's first ever Bundesliga game resulted in their first ever victory in the competition overnight.

Lukas Hinterseer's strike was enough for Ingolstadt to seal a massive 1-0 away victory against Mainz on the opening weekend of the 2015-16 Bundesliga season.

Manager Raplh Hasenhuttl made a raft of changes to the squad following the club's disappointing exit in the DFB Pokal against SpVgg Unterhaching and it worked wonders.

Leckie, 24, had been in doubt for the season opener but was given a full 90 minutes in his first Bundesliga appearance since March 2012 when he was playing for Borussia Monchengladbach.

The forward was played up-front in a three-man attack with Hinterseer and Moritz Hartmann, picking up a yellow card before the break but still survived the full 90.

Ingolstadt welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Audi-Sportpark next week for their first ever home game in the Bundesliga.
