Adelaide United came from behind to sour David Villa's Melbourne send-off, thanks to goals from Bruce Djite and Marcello Carrusca on Friday night at AAMI Park.
ANDREW REDMAYNE - 6
Adelaide’s first goal was sharp and not a lot he could do. Committed on the lead-up to a penalty and has yet to save one in 11 attempts.
PATRICK KISNORBO – 6.5
Captain consistent. Scored the opening goal with his head. Was lucky to be on the pitch after upending Bruce Djite on 65 minutes. Thrown upfront but not to be.
ROB WIELAERT – 6.5
JASON HOFFMAN – 6
Was kept busy by Cirio. Did cop a yellow.
JONATAN GERMANO – 5
Thought he was in a boxing match. Went down twice, a bit unlucky with collisions. A talented player that seems to find injury too much.
AARON MOOY – 5.5
Love his sharpness, don’t think he’s got the links up front to help his cause at the moment, will take time to gel.
ERIK PAARTALU – 6.5
Didn’t get a lot of the ball to distribute. Again will take time to gel in.
MASSIMO MURDOCCA – 6
Worked hard without any end product.
MATE DUGANDZIC – 6
Came off in the 58th minute. Things aren’t quite going his way at the moment.
DAVID VILLA – 6.5
Made a good impact quite early, had a good shot well saved from Galekovic. Good when he had the ball, otherwise a small spell of two goals which was great to see.
DAMIEN DUFF – 6
Started like a house on fire hitting the bar and then producing the first goal from his corner. Didn’t see a lot of the ball in the second half.
BEN GARUCCIO – 7
Came on inside 27 minutes and was really good. His first hit-out this season and could cement that left-back position, although second goal will be at fault, however will be better for the run.
DAVID WILLIAMS – 6
Had a couple of touches, would like to have seen more.
PAULO RETRE – 6.5
Came on did ok but not enough time to make big impact.
EUGENE GALEKOVIC - 7
Wasn’t at fault for the opening goal although rooted to the spot. Made a strong save off Villa. Otherwise smoked a cigar for the rest of the match.
OSAMA MALIK – 7.5
Lapsed in concentration for the opening goal, let Kisnorbo have too much space. However on the ball was excellent made some real good diagonal passes.
NIGEL BOOGAARD – 7.5
Looked in control at the back. Solid.
TAREK ELRICH – 7.5
Provided the first goal to Djite, wonderful cross. Otherwise playing in a purple patch.
MARCELO CARRUSCA – 8
Very good. Nice penalty. The guy's a winner. Man of the match performance.
CRAIG GOODWIN – 7
Did a sound job more as a left-back.
ISAIAS – 8
Busy as. Great game. Tackles, passing, work-rate very good.
AWER MABIL – 7
A great experience for the young lad going away from home to help his side get the three points. Continuing his good form with some strong runs on the wings.
JAMES JEGGO – 6.5
A bit quiet in some patches.
BRUCE DJITE – 7.5
Is in sharp form this season again popping up with a crisp header to get Adelaide back in the game. Not the most reliant player which is taking pressure off him. Could have a big season.
SERGIO CIRIO – 7
Gave his all on the wing, very consistent.
BRUCE KAMAU – 7
Came on and got through on goal to win an important penalty. Came on and made an impact.
MICHAEL MARRONE – 6
Did a good job in midfield. Is a useful utility player.
DYLAN MCGOWAN – 5
Came on late at the back to give more protection. Did well for the time he was on.comments
