Ryan signs a tweet deal with Club Brugge

Australian goalkeeper Mat Ryan has signed a new deal pledging his future to Club Brugge for the next four years.

Ryan, who joined the Belgian outfit from the Central Coast Mariners in 2013, tweeted the news on Wednesday evening.

“I am happy to announce I have extended my contract with this great club until 2018,” he said.

“Committed to winning some titles.”

The Socceroo custodian has quickly established himself as the Belgian side’s number one, racking up over 60 appearances for the Blue-Backs.

Ryan was named as Goalkeeper of the Year in his debut campaign in the Belgian Pro League, and has recorded 18 clean sheets from 24 appearances this season.

The 22-year old has attracted interest from other European clubs, with Club Brugge poised to qualify for the next round of the Europa League and sitting top of its domestic competition, one point in front of Anderlecht.

Ryan is set to be Australia’s first-choice goalkeeper at the upcoming Asian Cup.

He touched down in Italy overnight ahead of his club's Europa League clash with Group B rivals Torino FC.
