Smith extends Thailand stay

Former Brisbane Roar captain Matt Smith has extended his stay in Thailand after agreeing to a two year contract extension with Bangkok Glass Football Club.

As part of his contract renewal, Smith will also don the captain's armband for the upcoming 2016 Thai Premier League season.

Smith was pleased to extend his stay after a positive first season with the club affectionately known as 'The Rabbits'.

“I’ve always been very happy over the past 12 months. I’m glad to extend my contract for another two years because Bangkok Glass is the club with a good vision and wants to achieve the success," Smith told the Bangkok Glass FC club website.

“I expect us to be one of the title contenders and hopefully we could get our hands to one trophy at least.

"The team are now ready for the new season and so am I. We’ve learned a lot from last season."

After a taste of Asian Champions League football in 2015, Smith will be looking to ensure that Bangkok Glass are in a position to qualify again this season.
