Stars come out for Juve

Alessandro Del Piero will captain the Foxtel A-League All Stars against his old club Juventus in a star-studded match with the Italian giants now bringing their entire 24-strong squad Down Under and the A-League's biggest names contractually obliged to turn up too.

Tickets for the August 10 clash go on sale to the Football Family today and to the general public on Friday with adult tickets starting at $59.50 up to $169.50 for Category A seats.
But despite the trip coming hot on the heels of the 2014 World Cup, Juventus today pledged to bring their full squad for the game at Sydney's ANZ Stadium - and will face an A-League All Stars side captained by former Juve legend Del Piero.

His decision to play the match in early August also suggests that he will continue his career at Sydney FC, despite constant rumours of a move at the end of this season.
The 39-year-old spent 19 years at Juventus, captaining them for 11 seasons, scoring a record 290 goals from 705 matches.
It is the third time the Italian giants have come to Australia following previous tours in 1984 and in 2008 when they defeated Melbourne Victory 4-1.

Speaking at the official ticketing launch, which was held today at the Sydney Opera House, Football Federation Australia CEO David Gallop said the All Stars game was about showcasing the best players from the Hyundai A-League against top international opposition.
“To have a club of the calibre of Juventus FC come to Sydney is a massive coup for football in Australia,” said Gallop. “To put it into perspective, it’s very possible that of the 24 players in the Juventus FC first team squad, 16 players could be at the 2014 FIFA World Cup representing eight different nations.
“This match will be a fantastic opportunity for fans to see the best of the Hyundai A-League line-up against some of the world’s best international footballers in our own backyard.”
The FFA also changed the A-League's player contracts this season to ensure every player must play if selected for the A-League All Stars after last year's squad was criticised for its weak line-up and missed marquee stars like Del Piero.
This year though Del Piero has confirmed he will lead the local side against his old club - and every other player in the A-League will be expected to turn up too if called.

Fans will again have the opportunity to help select the All Stars coach and the rest of the players in the squad in an online vote in the coming weeks.
“I am delighted that Italy’s Serie A champions Juventus are bringing their football skills to Sydney, Australia’s premier sports and major events city,” said NSW Major Events Minister George Souris .
“By hosting this champion team, Sydney and NSW will again be on show to the world, confirming our position as Australia’s home of major events."
Despite Foxtel having naming rights to the A-League select side, Seven Network will again actually televise the game.
"We are thrilled to be able to support Football Federation Australia in bringing a team of Juventus FC's quality to Australia in just the second year of our partnership, once again showing Foxtel's commitment to football in Australia," said former FFA CEO and now Foxtel executive Ben Buckley
Seven CEO Tim Worner added: “We are once again delighted to be involved with David Gallop and Football Federation Australia in delivering this major event live to Australians everywhere and on every device.
"We are committed to building our presence in major sports events across not just our broadcast television platform but online and other tablet apps as well.  We are looking forward to a terrific coverage.”
