Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory: Player Ratings

Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory played out a scoreless draw at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night. Who was best on ground? Griffin McMaster gives his ratings.


VEDRAN JANJETOVIC – 7.5 In real good form at the moment. Made three crucial saves in the first half.

SEBASTIAN RYALL – 5.5 Defensively got caught out a few times.

ALI ABBAS – 7 Adds good versatility for Sydney FC.

NIKOLA PETKOVIC – 7 Held line ok although Khallfallah and Thompson got in behind too often.

SASA OGNENOVSKI – 7.5 Was involved in two offside goals in the opening minute’s one at either end. Did a good job. Prevented Berisha nearly all night.

CHRIS NAUMOFF – 7 Played well.

BERNIE IBINI-ISEI – 7 Finally put some good balls through. His strongest match so far this season.

HAGI GLIGOR – 5 Started in Antonis’ absence. Quiet and not many touches. Subbed at half time.

MILOS DIMITRIJEVIC – 6 Plays better with Antonis. Tonight just felt left out.

SHANE SMELTZ – 6 Had a good header saved on 59 minutes.

ALEX BROSQUE – 6 Getting into dangerous areas had a good chance in the first half well blocked by Coe. Should have scored on 43 minutes. Things weren’t working out for him.


PREDRAG BOJIC – N/A On fairly late.

ALEX GERSBACH – 7 On at half time. Solid with no problems. Helped stopped the flow of Victories attacks.

PETER TRIANTIS – 7 Also on at half-time. Midfielder. Did well when coming on, tackling and working hard was his strongpoints.


NATHAN COE – 7.5 Was called upon to make a Brosque save and did well. Was a lot busier in the second half.

DYLAN MURNANE -  7 Played well. Good runs down the left

LEIGH BROXHAM – 7 Had to play  at centre back again with Leijer. Did well.

RASHID MAHAZI – 7 Played in unfamiliar role as right back. Accounted for himself well. His side didn’t get crosses from many times.

ADRIAN LEIJER – 7 Sound. Led well and communicated with the players in front of him. Strong match.

JESS MAKAROUNAS – 7 Did well considering he’s not a regular in the starting line-up. Good creativity and got into the game well.

ARCHIE THOMPSON – 7 Always dangerous. Makes great runs and gets in behind all the time. Had a good chance on 35 minutes which was well saved.

GUI FINKLER – 7 Threaded good passes through to the front two

CARL VALERI – 7.5 Screened and marshalled well in front of him.

FAHID BEN KHALFALLAH – 7 Had a great chance to score early but laid off to offside Berisha. Had another snap in the first half just which whistled past the post on a difficult angle. Got into great positions but should have had a hat trick.

BESART BERISHA – 6.5 Was kept quiet pretty much all night bar one or two good solo runs. Not his night.
