Taggart on improve but no debut

Socceroos striker Adam Taggart is on the improve from injury but won’t be fit enough to debut against Millwall this weekend in the Championship.

Taggart has been battling an abdominal complaint picked up in pre-season and Cottagers boss Felix Magath confirmed he will miss Saturday’s clash.

“He was not as fit as the other players so it is improving now but for Saturday I think he is not ready,” Magath told reporters.

Taggart, who turned 21 in June, became the youngest A-League Golden Boot winner last season with 16 strikes.

The highly-rated Perth-born talent went on to make Australia’s 23-man 2014 World Cup and played in matches against the Netherlands and Spain, starting the latter.

Fellow Australian Ryan Williams is also unavailable due to a suspension picked during his time on loan at League Two club Oxford United.
