CARL Valeri is set to revive his 2014 World Cup hopes with a move to Serie B club Ternana, according to Italian reports.
The 29-year-old midfielder hasn’t made one appearance for newly-promoted Sassuolo this season, having battled a serious leg injury early in the campaign.
According to Italian reports, struggling second tier outfit Ternana are lining up the Australian midfielder as they seek to bolster their stocks.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims Ternana have ramped up their interest and could formalise a deal in the next 24 hours, having enquired with Valeri’s agent Luca Urbani last week.
Valeri has regularly been an unused substitute at Sassuolo in recent weeks having returned to full fitness in November following a leg displacement suffered on international duty in November 2012.
The former Inter Milan man started all three of Australia’s games at the 2010 World Cup but hasn’t appeared in green and gold since the injury sustained against South Korea.
Ternana, who are currently 17th on the Serie B table, was previously home to ex-Socceroo Vince Grella.comments
