Victory vs Wanderers: Player Ratings

Griffin McMaster gives us his player ratings from Melbourne Victory's 4-1 humiliation of Western Sydney Wanderers at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

Victory were easy winners in the end thanks to goals from Matthieu Delpierre and Besart Berisha as well as club stalwarts Leigh Broxham and Archie Thompson.

Melbourne Victory

Nathan Coe: He was positive off his line in the early stages of the match but was at fault for the only goal he conceded. He did make up for it in the second half with a strong save low to his left. 7

Adrian Leijer: Strong throughout. Stuck to the task well. 8

Matthieu Delpierre: Top debut. Scored in the opening 8 minutes and was a really tall presence at the back. 8

Daniel Georgievski: Sound debut. Did make a couple of mistakes but overall coach Kevin Muscat will be happy with his performance. 7

Jason Geria: Not a lot of action happened down his side. He was the quietest of the back 4 however he did not play badly. 7

Carl Valeri: Another debutant for Victory and looked sharp. Screened the hole role well and will be a big key for the club this season. 8

Gui Finkler: Did cough up possession a few too many times in attack and that took the gloss off his performance a little. 7

Leigh Broxham: Arguably played his best match for Victory. Scored a top corner pearler in the first half. Passing was sharp. 9

Archie Thompson: Typical Archie performance. Always quick getting in behind defenses, found the back of the net and has noy showed signs of slowing down. 9

Kosta Barbarouses: Dominated down the right wing. Set up chances. Strong performance. 8

Besart Berisha: The guy is a beast. Always chasing till the final whistle. What a capture for Victory. 9

Rashid Mahazi: Came on after 86 minutes. 6

Fahid Ben Khalfallah: Showed good glimpse coming on. 7

Connor Pain: Was busy down the left but his touch let him down. 6

Western Sydney Wanderers

Ante Covic: Was not at fault for the goals and did make a few saves. Could not pin total blame on him after a sloppy team performance. 7

Daniel Mullen: He was under constant pressure all match. Was caught out on a number of occasions. 5

Brendan Hamill: Gave away possession too cheaply. Did not defend set pieces well enough. 5

Antony Golec: The handball cost his side a goal and he was part of a back four that showed little vigor. 5

Shannon Cole: Could have done his job a lot better. 5

Labinot Haliti: Normally consistent however he did let down. If  it is any consolation he assited Wanderers' only goal. 6

Mark Bridge: Chased balls well. Got on the score-sheet. 7

Mateo Poljak: Still made 44 passes and was busy. 7

Kwabena Appiah-Kubi: Did noy show a lot. Made 7 passes, got subbed at half time. 4

Iacopo La Rocca: Quiet match and did not make too much of an impact. 5

Brenton Santalab: Hardly touched the ball. Did not make any impact. 4

Vitor Saba: Came on at half time and did OK. 5

Romeo Castelen: Came on at 68 minutes. The damage was done by then. Could not do much to help the cause. Need to see him in the next few games. 6

Jason Trifiro: Came on in the second half. Did work very hard although Victory had too much of the ball. 6
