Brazil swept away any doubts about their performance on and off the field on the opening day of the 2014 World Cup with a convincing 3-1 win over Croatia – and a wild night of partying in Vitoria, home base for the Socceroos in Brazil.
Long before kick off, good humoured crowds flocked to the entertainment strip in the city centre swathed in yellow and green, with long queues to get into the packed bars.
The opening own goal was soon forgotten when Neymar levelled the score and deafening cheers, horns, firecrackers and detonators greeted every Brazilian goal.
With the win in the bag, the crowd then started a chant of "Australia! Australia!" to get behind the Socceroos in their clash against Chile today.
