Hannover open talks on Kruse loan

Bundesliga outfit Hannover 96 have opened talks with Robbie Kruse’s agent about a potential loan move, according to German newspaper Bild.

Kruse is on the road to recovery after a long-term knee injury and has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the 2015 Asian Cup.

Late last week, Kicker claimed FSV Mainz were keen on Kruse, but Bild reported they had dropped their interest earlier this week.

Now it is alleged Hannover have begun talks with the 25-year-old Australian’s agent, Jan van Baal.

Hannover are in the market for a right-sided winger and striker following the departures of Szabolcs Huszti, Didier Ya Konan, Artjoms Rudnevs and Mame Biram Diouf.

Kruse is eager for game-time ahead of the 2015 Asian Cup after missing the 2014 World Cup, but may still opt to remain with Leverkusen where he continues his recovery from the anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in January.

The Socceroo has made two appearances off the bench in pre-season for Leverkusen, but appears unlikely to play in the club’s Bundesliga opener against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday 23 August.
