Australian midfielder Rostyn Griffiths has left Dutch Eredivisie club Roda JC effective immediately.
The 28-year-old midfielder had previously stated he would leave the Dutch outfit upon the conclusion of his contract at the end of the season.
Griffiths has now opted to leave with immediate effect, having struggled for game-time following the winter break.
The ex-Perth Glory man has made only one appearance, as a substitute last month against Cambuur, since the end of January.
He had been a regular before the turn of the year, making 15 appearances in midfield and scoring two goals.
Griffiths, who trialed with Championship club Birmingham City last year, told FourFourTwo last month of his intent to remain in Europe rather than return to the A-League.
“For me Roda was always going to be a club to get my foot in to Europe and Roda had the same feelings about that as well,” he said.
“It's been great for me in that respect but ultimately for me to want to remain overseas the situation has to be more beneficial.”
The futures of Daniel De Silva and Tomi Juric at Roda JC are both unclear beyond this season too.
Juric is out of contract but made his first start of the calendar year on the weekend after a knee injury.
De Silva joined Roda on a two-year loan deal but has struggled to adjust and it is understood the club are willing to let him go.
Roda have three games remaining in the season and are likely to avoid the relegation playoffs despite not yet being safe from the drop.comments
